Revue - Here I am!

The Muriel Brand School revue is a biennial event and has become known for excellent performances, rivalling those of ordinary schools. The 2005 revue, "Here I am", was described in the press as a "... triumph of the spirit". It was the culmination of a year's hard work - sound recordings, choreography, practicing the dance steps, and much more.

About a 170 learners from both the primary and high school sections took part in the revue. They ranged in age from four to eighteen years. Unlike ordinary school revues, there were no selection criteria - any learner who wanted to, could participate.

For a week in May, schoolwork took a back seat as Muriel Brand School practically took over the Springs City Theatre. The theatre staff did their utmost to ensure accessibility, coping well with wheelchairs and even with children who needed privacy to catheterize themselves. The theater staff was eventually so impressed with the school's performances, that they nominated the Muriel Brand School's revue for an Ekurhuleni Metro mayoral award.
